1. Unlimited

I have never seen so many “early” deaths happen in such a short time as I have this past month.  Because of them, I’ve been doing a lot more thinking about my purpose and my time.  And here’s what God has been teaching me about:

We live in an UNLIMITED world.  Think about it; unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited Internet.  And that’s just on our phones.  We have buffets, netflix, hulu, and just about everything on demand with no limits.  I believe that these services have changed our thinking which has changed the way that we view life.

The truth is we are LIMITED.  We have an expiration date.  We waste time with things that don’t matter, which wastes time for things that DO matter.

    Here’s What James 4:14 says:

You don’t know what will happen tomorrow. What is life? You are a mist that is seen for a moment and then disappears.

Here’s Another Way of Looking @ it:

Let’s take a look at our heart - literally.  The average person’s heart beats 37,050,000 times every year.  That’s a lot of pumping!!  Now looking from the perspective that we have an expiration date — every time our heart beats is one beat closer to its last.  Meaning — our heart has a countdown.  This may seem sadistic to think this way, but in truth it’s reality.  Only God knows when we are done here on Earth.

Doing the math — a 25 year old has only 1,667,250,000 heart beats until age 70.  That seems like a lot, but remember it beats 37 million a year!  Also, not everyone reaches the age of 70.  This is very humbling to me.  Once I started realizing that my life is limited something clicked.

    • The number of songs I sing.
    • The amount of notes I play.
    • The phone calls I make.
    • The chances to minister to people.
    • The prayers I pray.
    • The sunsets I see.
    • Kissing my wife.
    • Telling those I love “I Love You”
    • To give things/time/money to others.
    • To be an ambassador for Christ.
    • To be still before God.

We are limited!  Everything that we do here on Earth is limited.  But there are things that are eternal.  God wants us to focus our limited lives on the eternal.  So don’t trade your family for facebook, or time with God for TV!!

Don’t let the unlimited services here on Earth rob you of your precious limited time to make an eternal impact.
